Bob and wife Lori ready to board cruise ship, 1994, smiling as usual | BOB JOHNSON-Class 4Bob Johnson
Bob spent his professional working life as a mechanical engineer in the pulp and paper industry. He married Lori, who has 2 girls, and together with his 2 sons and 1 daughter from a previous marriage, they have 7 grandchildren. Bob and Lori continue to live on Bowen Island, in an extensively renovated cabin, which was his parents original from 1943. Although Bob is retired from the engineering world, he still consults part time, but mostly as a hobby. Bob and Lori enjoy their modest boat, and a garden which they share with the local deer. They travel often, whenever the mood strikes. Bob maintains that the JO high school years "will always be a favorite time in life and one which still brings fond memories of as exceptional a group of classmates as anyone could wish for." (We'll drink to that, Bob.)

 | JIM JOHNSON-Class 2Jim Johnson
A guy who's happiest "wherever I am and whatever I'm doing," Jim has now retired after 34 years with Shell Oil and 7 with Evergreen Tours. He and "a wonderful gal" Diane (Hare) married in 1954, have a daughter and 3 sons "can't call them children since they're all in their 40s" and now have added 3 grandchildren to the Johnson clan. An ex-boater, Jim claims that his 6 sailboats over the years have been a great extravagance: "it's true, they are a large hole in the water in which you throw money (see Ivy Pye for confirmation) but lots of fun." Jim's favourite journey was "a 30 day trip to Australia with Gary & Annie Santini which included 10 days sailing the Great Barrier Reef & Whitsunday Islands." Jim's fondest memories of the old school are some that many have echoed: "the overall school spirit, whether it be in sports, music, drama or dances, most students were participants or supporters to the fullest." (Let's hear it, 'gimme a J, gimme an A. . .') Jim considers his greatest achievement, "getting this far and aiming at another good 30 years." (We like your optimism, Jim.) He has no regrets, "the universe is unfolding as it should," and would like to be remembered as a good husband, father and community worker; sociable, fun-loving and with many friends. He and Diane have "just purchased a lot and new park model in Mesa, Arizona and so will be joining the thousands of snowbirds next winter." (Watch for them flying over some time in Jan.) Jim's motto: Y.O.G.B.T.W.O. "You Only Go By This Way Once." So enjoy!
