MARGARET FIELDING-Class 31

Marg lives in Kamloops and is married to Lorne "BUCK" Harley. We understand that a physical disability keeps Marg confined to a wheelchair.

LORNE FINGARSON-Class 4

Lorne Fingarson After leaving John Oliver, Lorne graduated UBC with a Bachelor of Commerce. He subsequently led a very busy professional life which as he says, "provided both highs and lows." As President of a number of small to medium sized businesses he experienced both "the joy of success and the misery of failure." These experiences provided a foundation for 18 years at BC.I.T. in teaching and curricula development, educational administration, microcomputer support of academic programs, educational contract sales, and for a short period as Dean of Business. "A subsequent assignment to create a small business development program called the Venture Program probably represented the highlight of my business career and has proven to be a legacy. While nominally retiring from BCIT in 1993, my business life has stayed active in consulting and educational small business development programs. I expect that these activities on a limited basis will continue." Family has always been important lto Lorne. "Marrying a second time added four additional children to the four I already had from my first marriage. The lives and those of our 14 grandchildren provide a constant source of joy and that will continue in our retirement years. The years to come will bring new and rewarding experiences. Both Pat and I, currently blessed with good health, live each day and each week involved with friends and family, looking forward to every activity with anticipation and pleasure, whether it be a trip to Arizona in the winter, or watching one of our grandchildrens baseball games. John Oliver represented the academic foundation for my life. Several teachers, most notably Mr. Allen and Mr. Young assisted me to develop intellectual curiosity which has stayed with me all these years." (You sound like one lucky fella, Lorne.")

Vivian worked as a Trust Asset Accountant in the Office of the Public Trustee from whom she received an official commendation for excellence in trust accounting. Today she looks after her 9 year-old granddaughter and is involved in her many activities. (Probably doing just as good a job there.) Her favourite journey was two years ago to Disneyland on her granddaughter's 7th birthday; "I will always remember her joy and excitement." As well as enjoying closeness with family, Vivian hopes to keep up with all her activities (crafts, gardening, golf & fishing) and do more travelling. Of her special memories of Jayo, Vivian had this to say: "Grade 10 when a group of us from my class cycled from J.O. to Horseshoe bay, dances, the many wonderful parties at Tom Sterling's home including grad night where many of us lasted till morning." (We had better staying power in those days, Vivian.) She has been on the Board of Directors of Southern Bantam Football Club and the Miss Vancouver Beauty Pageant Committee. Like many of us, Vivian considers her family her greatest achievement and remains involved in all their activities.
