BETTY BAILEY & IVY PYE

Betty Bailey (Manning) For 34 years Bette has lived in New Westminster with Doug whom she married 46 years ago. Together they have raised 3 sons and 1 daughter and now are the proud grandparents of nine, aged 7 - 20. All the Manning boys and the grandchildren have turned into enthusiastic athletes just like the old folks. Like many of us, Bettes extravagance is travel; she enjoys cruising - but oh those extra pounds! Her favourite journey was a bus trip in Europe, especially through England & Scotland. Memories of Jayo are many including playing basketball & winning (does anyone ever remember losing?) 2 softball championships. Bette remembers Miss Adams, Miss Campbell & Ruth Wilson & Friday night basketball games. If she has any regrets it would be not going into teacher training. Her last 50 years?: worked for Canadian Advertising Agency & Greater Vancouver Water District, married Doug, raised 4 kids who are happily married and welcomed each of our 9 grandchildren with love. Kept in touch with Ivy, Ronnie & Jean. Leisure time spent camping with the kids, aerobics, playing bridge, travelling (Club Med, Tahiti).,cruising & touring Europe, China, Palm Springs, boating on the Pyes boat & volunteering with Meals on Wheels (30 yrs) as well as canvassing for a wide variety of charities." Bette has no motto other than just being thankful for a close family, a good life & good friends. And she would like to be remembered as a loving wife, mother & grandmother and a good friend. (No problem there.)

She has a daughter and a granddaughter as well as a surrogate granddaughter in Australia. For the rest of her life she plans "Fun Things!! picking up where I left off 50 years ago Latin, French & German classes at Jayo, number games & photography."
